Most of the time. Sometimes they are full of mindless boring work for weeks at a time. Often they don’t work and that gets frustrating, but overall they are awesome. There are always moments of incredible fun, when you are vacuuming up bees with a modified dustbuster or extracting DNA and making it visible, or finding a rare bug, hiking up to your thighs in mud through a rainforest, or electrocuting the water to catch fish, or getting to burn things. I could go on for ever, but you get the point. Mostly they are really really really really reallllly fun.

Experiments can be really really really really really long, and aren’t always that fun, but not many things are as fun as getting THE answer to a difficult question!

I’m in the process of designing experiments for keeping monkeys from bothering farmers’ crops, but right now, I feel a bit outsmarted and frustrated. Maybe you have some ideas you could share?
